Steven received his BA in Molecular and Cell Biology (Biochemistry) from the University of California, Berkeley. As an undergraduate, he worked as a research assistant at UCSF and developed an interest in enzymology and microbial interactions. He then worked as a technician and lab manager at UW Madison with Dr. Tu-Anh Huynh studying c-di-AMP signaling in Gram-positive bacteria. Now, as a first year PhD student in the Biology department at Stanford, he is hoping to use biochemical and molecular biology techniques to improve agriculture. He is excited to rotate in the Rhee lab at Carnegie and study biochemical adaptations for photosynthesis in extreme heat.
