I graduated from UC Santa Cruz in June of 2022. While there I studied Biochemistry and Bioinformatics, and worked in an environmental toxicology lab studying atmospheric mercury deposition. My junior and senior year I participated in iGEM, an international synthetic biology competition. My team's project involved developing an antibiotic-free method of neutralizing bacterial pathogens by targeting individual toxin genes. My long term goals are related to ensuring environmental resilience in a changing climate and developing applicable forms of bioremediation, and I am very excited to be exposed to the work done here at the Carnegie Institute.
